History of diamonds
Although many believed diamonds were gifted by a mighty God(s), diamonds were actually created by Mother Nature over millions of years, deep within the Earth’s crust before being brought to the surface by a massive volcanic eruption.
The earliest description of diamonds date to the 4th century BC in India where it was first mined. Roman philosopher Pliny the Elder wrote about their use as an engraving tool in the ancient world in the 1st century AD. In the early 18th century, diamonds were found in Brazil, followed by major discoveries in South Africa in the 19th century.
